Glennis Siverson - Fine Artist
After earning a bachelor's degree in music, Glennis went on to work for Paramount Pictures and Columbia TriStar Television in Los Angeles, later changing course to concentrate solely on photography. Runner-up winner in the 2010 Robert Cornelius Portrait Awards and a finalist in the 2010 Lucie Foundation Julie Margaret Cameron Int'l Awards, Glennis recently partnered with Speaker and Author Nick Vujicic, and with Classical Guitarist Ernesto Tamayo. During the past three years, Women in Photography International (WIPI) awarded Glennis 2nd place and four honorable mentions in three juried competitions. She is featured in the 2011 Snap! Orlando Int't Exhibition, was nominated for a Florida Magazine Association’s 2010 Charlie Award, and her work was selected for the prestigious 2009 Art of Photography international exhibition, for which just 111 images were chosen from 16,000 entries. Glennis’s images were featured in five juried 2009-10 exhibitions at The Center for Fine Art Photography in Colorado, and The Minneapolis Photography Center selected her work for two juried exhibitions in late 2009 and 2010. Glennis’s first foray into Set Photography was with the production of The Butterfly Circus. The film went on to win Doorpost Film Project’s 2009 Grand Prize. The Museum of Florida Art featured five of her images in 2009’s Chrome and Leather show, and three images will be in ASMP’s soon-to-be-published “Light of Florida” book. Glennis studied with National Geographic photographer Mark Thiessen and her work has been showcased 6 times in National Geographic online galleries about China, Frogs, and the Your Shot section. She’s also been featured in Central Florida Lifestyle Magazine, Albuquerque Magazine, Peterson’s Photographic Magazine, on Shutterbug’s website, and in various newspapers. She is a member of WIPI and ASMP. Currently based in Orlando, Florida, Glennis travels worldwide for a variety of photo assignments.
Although she became visually disabled due to a retinal abnormality, keratoconus, glaucoma, and several complications following a cornea transplant in 2004, Glennis’s art was transformed as a result, and the images she creates now come from a new way of seeing the world around her. One of her favorite quotes is from the Bible: “We live by faith, not by sight.” 2 Cor 5:7
Glennis shoots with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II.
